Wine maker notes: THE SOIL is sandy, stony and loamy. The vineyards have green-cover, which is opened only at extreme drought. THE VINES have been approx. 24 years old and are cultivated in a dense of around 4.000 vines/ha. To profit from the rising ground-heat and to reach a high foliage-wall we use a trellis training system at about 60-90 cm and apply the guyot cutting system. THE HARVEST took place twice, by the mid of October at 19,5°KMW, picked by hand with a small, well-trained team which selected the grapes directly in the vineyard. IN THE CELLAR the grapes have been destemmed and squeezed and had a standing for approx. 4 hours before being pressed oxygen-free by a pneumatic Inertys-press with low pressure. Fermentation took place with automatic temperature-control at 19°C. The wine was stored in stainless steel-tanks, after 4 months the wine was bottled in our cellar in Burgundy-bottles.
Grape Variety/Blend: Sauvignon blanc
Tasting notes: “Seiser am Eck” are displayed by the blend of two pickings for this Sauvignon. The early harvest brings crisp, refreshing fragrance. The harvest two weeks later brings body and fully ripe fruit components. A charming bouquet of fine gooseberries and elderflower; lusty and fresh with typical notes of white asparagus on the palate, harmonious finesse, intense but still pleasing reticent. Powerful finish of fine length. Especially delicious with light fish dishes or also as an aperitif!
