Wine maker notes: The 2008 season was mostly cool through December and January and a brief heat spike mid February aided ripening. Our Chardonnay fruit was hand-picked in good condition between 12.2 and 12.5 Baumé, before the March heat wave, which did cause issues in other regions. B and C blocks face north-west in a location which identified as a perfect site for Chardonnay. It has deep soils and a cool microclimate. South Park is TarraWarra Estate’s only south facing vineyard. Planted with Mendoza clone, the longer ripening period provides structure and fresh acidity to the blend.
